The Mazama Story
Mazama Capital Management was established in 1993 as the investment management division of Black & Company, Inc., a leading Northwest institutional equity research firm. The division was founded by Black & Company's Chairman and CEO at the time, Ron Sauer, to provide fee-based money management services to a corporate ERISA plan for one of the largest private companies in Oregon. Ron and his team purchased the division in 1997 and set out to build Mazama into the highest quality institutional investment firm possible.
Today, Mazama Capital Management remains an independent employee-owned investment advisory firm dedicated to growth equity investing on behalf of large institutions. Mazama is a recognized name in the institutional investment business with a track record of attracting and retaining a diverse and talented team of highly motivated professionals.
Mazama's founding principle, that people are the most important determinant of the success of any business, continues to guide the firm's investment philosophy and process and remains at the heart of Mazama's corporate culture today.
